Welcome!
Cichlids; as a truly unique model system, serve as a vibrant and speciose mirror for our place in the natural world, Here we task ourselves with how the characteristics and evolutionary trajectory of their brains, bodies and behaviours interplay as a unparalleled lens for such a cause. Stick around for all things fieldwork and beyond…
Graduating from the icy Scottish climate of St Andrews university, Boyd finds himself much more at home in the equatorial waters of Lake Tanganyika, Zambia, where he can often be found patrolling the benthos with pots of sand, much to the annoyance of his beloved multies. From an ethology-heavy research background, he now turns his attention to the world of Evo-Devo, hoping passion and knowledge for his much adored cichlids will find use as a refined scalpel in dissecting the vast forms of their evolution
