Research Internship (2023): “Social phenotypes in the shell-dwelling cichlids of Lake Tanganyika” Under Prof. Alex Jordan, Max-Planck Institute for Animal Behaviour

M.Sc. – Integrated Marine Biology with Honours (2020 – 2025): “Risk integration and the tit-for-tat hypothesis in stickleback predator inspection” under Prof. Mike Webster, University of St Andrews

Field Researcher (2023 – present): Guiding original and collaborative SCUBA research on site at Lake Tanganyika, Zambia alongside the Behavioural Evolution Lab (Prof. Alex Jordan, MPI Konstanz), The Department of Fisheries, Mpulungu and many others from the international community of fish researchers

SSI Rescue Diver (2023 -present): Extensive experience with scientific diving under challenging conditions. Planning and leading a subset of his 300 logged research dives, Boyd is a certified SSI Rescue Diver, emergency oxygen provider and posseses a Powerboating (level 2) license in addition to occupational and wilderness first-aid training

Aquarium Husbandry in Research and Hobby (Lifetime): A passionate and dedicated aquarist since birth, Boyd has experience successfully breeding a score of aquatic vertebrate species, a majority of which from his beloved Cichlidae, but further including Danio and sticklebacks in a research context, in addition to turtles and amphibians as a hobbyist
